About
EngPlain is a technology publication for people who build and run software. Engineering explained. An article should name the problem, show the decision, and point at the source when the post is about someone else’s advisory or product.
Coverage is software engineering, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, cloud and DevOps, data, mobile, and the tools teams use to ship. The readers are working engineers who want a specific answer: how to version an API without stranding old clients, how a geo-distance query is shaped, or what a new entry in a vulnerability catalog changes in a patch queue.
Hameed Ur Rehman started EngPlain as a place to publish that kind of writing, and as a place where other engineers can publish too. A post has a title, a short description, a cover, and a body. After it is published it shows up on the homepage and in the feed. You can read it on the page or play the narration. Reading mode hides the surrounding chrome so the article is the page. The search on the feed looks through titles, descriptions, categories, and tags.
Categories are shelves, not articles. A category page lists the posts in that shelf. The writing lives on the post. Empty shelves stay out of search until there is enough there to be useful.
If you want to publish, create an account and open the editor. The preview shows the article before it goes live. The cover is the image at the top of the published post.
EngPlain is independent. It is not a vendor blog, and a post does not speak for a product unless it says so. The site address is www.engplain.com.

Hameed Ur Rehman edits EngPlain and writes practical explainers for engineers who already know the vocabulary and want the decision made plain. He publishes on this site and keeps a personal site at the link below. Other authors publish under their own names. The byline on an article is the person who wrote it.
